Prosecution witness testifies to Chicago hiring corruption

A star prosecution witness in the trial of four former Chicago city officials testified that the city only cleaned up its hiring practices after a criminal investigation began. Mary Jo Falcon, former personnel director for the city’s Water Management Department, also said that at one point she didn’t even look at the qualifications of job candidates, according to the Chicago Tribune. She just hired whomever Robert Sorich, former mayoral patronage chief for Mayor Richard Daley and a defendant in the case, told her to hire. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/custom/newsroom/chi-060517sorich-trial,1,5193730.story?coll=chi-news-hed
