Atlanta firefighters demand raise

Atlanta firefighters demand raise that police received

Atlanta’s firefighters are threatening to march in protest if the city council doesn’t give them the same raise that Mayor Shirley Franklin wants for the city’s police officers. Franklin says the 3.5 percent raise for the police is needed to prevent more officers from leaving the department but that the fire department’s workforce is stable, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The controversy is driving a wedge between the two departments. http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/atlanta/stories/0606metfiremen.html
